Stuck
In early November at Wilson lake, me, Jadon, and Keagin were out riding on ATV’s around in the dried lake. A person had gotten their truck stuck earlier that day; he had four other trucks trying to pull him out, but they couldn’t get him out. They all started to get stuck trying.
While that was going on, we decided to see who could go the longest without getting stuck on my ATV because it was the only two-wheel drive one out there. I went first and went through some good mud pits. I made it about 5 minutes without getting suck until I hit one mud puddle that was about six inches deep. Jadon ended up pulling me out of it. Then we came up with a new idea to see who would make it the farthest into that mud puddle. We all decided to go at once but we didn’t think about who was going to pull us out. Jadon was the first to get suck because he was on the heaviest ATV, then it was Keagin, then me. I was on the lightest one out there, so I just flu over most of the mud.
After we all got stuck, we all tried to get out. None of us could, though. When we knew we couldn’t get out, Jadon called his brother, and I called my dad. We told them that we were all suck and couldn’t get out. Both of them were busy and couldn’t come get us when we called them. They both said it would be about 3 hours until they could come for us so, we just waited. About 30 minutes later, we tried to get out again, and we still couldn’t get out. When we started to get cold and our hands got numb, we started up my ATV because it warmed up the fastest. We warmed up our hands and toes at times. Keagin got cold the fastest. He just sat at my ATV and put his hands by the exhaust pipe. We tried to get unstuck every once in a while, but never could. It was about 6 p.m. when the sun started to set; we all got really cold when it went down. We were all about frozen. We couldn’t feel anything in our hand and toes.
My dad called me and asked “if we were still stuck?”
I told him “Yes and to hurry over because we were ice cold.”
When my dad and Jadon's brother pulled up, we were happy to see them because we had been stuck for three hours. Jadon’s brother brought rope and came on a side by side, and my dad came on his ATV with a winch. It was pitch black when they got there. My dad tried to pull out Jadon first because he was closest to the edge. He couldn’t do it by himself, so Jadon’s brother hooked up to my dad, and then they both pulled him out. Next was Keagin because he was closer to the edge than I was, and they pulled him out no problem. When they went to me, I walked out to hook up my ATV. The chain wasn’t long enough, so we had to try from the other side. It was barely able to reach.
The truck that was stuck when we got there was still stuck. It was barred all the way up to the cab of the truck. They brought out 3 more trucks to try, and they still couldn’t get the truck out.
After my dad got me out, we talked for a minute about how long it took them to come out to get us unstuck. After that, we dropped off Jadon’s ATV that at his grandparents' house because Keagin was riding his. We all had a good time and went out the next day because we knew where to stay away from.
The dudes with the truck ended up getting out later that night, I think. They were still out there when we left to go get warm.
I learned that if we all are going to get stuck or do a stupid challenge, we better have a backup plan for what happens.
